Our Learning Philosophy

At Gem Kids Infant & Toddler Center, we believe children learn best through play, discovery, and nurturing relationships.

Our curriculum is built around moments of joy, curiosity, and connection — helping each child grow socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually at their own pace.

Every day is filled with opportunities to explore, create, and learn — all in a safe, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment.

Our Curriculum: FunShine Express

We proudly use the Sunshine Express Curriculum, a trusted, research-based program that supports the early learning needs of infants and toddlers.

This curriculum focuses on:

Hands-on learning through play and exploration
Language and communication development
Social-emotional growth and positive interactions
Motor skills and sensory exploration
Music, art, and movement that inspire creativity

Each week includes themed activities that introduce children to colors, shapes, numbers, letters, nature, and their world — all in fun, meaningful ways.

Infant Room (6 Weeks – 12 Months)

Our infant room is a calm, loving space designed to nurture the youngest learners.

We follow each baby’s individual schedule for feeding, sleeping, and playtime — ensuring consistency with their routines at home.

Infant Learning Experiences Include:

Gentle sensory play (textures, sounds, and colors)
Music and movement time
Storytime and language exposure
Tummy time and fine-motor development
Loving one-on-one care and cuddles

Our goal is to build trust, comfort, and early curiosity — the foundation for lifelong learning.

Toddler Room (1 – 4 Years)

Our toddler room is full of energy, laughter, and imagination!
Each day encourages independence, self-expression, and exploration through structured activities and free play.

Toddler Learning Experiences Include:

Art, music, and creative expression
Group story time and early literacy
Simple science and sensory exploration
Building social skills through play and sharing
Movement, dance, and outdoor discovery

We help toddlers build confidence and curiosity while developing communication, problem-solving, and friendships.

Daily Routine

While each day is flexible to meet the needs of the children, we follow a consistent rhythm that provides comfort and predictability.

Toddler Daily Schedule (Ages 1–4)

Time Activity

7:00 – 8:30 AM Arrival, greetings, and breakfast

8:30 – 9:00 AM Free play and classroom exploration

9:00 – 9:30 AM Circle time and music

9:30 – 10:00 AM Morning snack

10:00 – 11:00 AM Learning activities & FunShine Express Curriculum time

11:00 – 11:30 PM Lunch

11:30 – 12:30 PM Outdoor play or stroller walk to Emmett City Park

12:30 – 2:30 PM Nap and quiet time

2:30 – 3:00 PM Afternoon snack

3:00 – 4:30 PM Outdoor play, stroller walks, or splash pad fun (weather permitting)

4:30 – 5:30 PM Small group play, art, story time

5:30 – 6:30 PM Calm play/ pick-up

Infant Daily Schedule (Ages 6 Weeks – 12 Months)

Time Activity

Flexible Arrival and warm greetings

Flexible Bottles and meals served based on each child’s routine

Flexible Diaper changes and nap times as needed

Morning Sensory play, tummy time, and songs

Late Morning Stroller walk or outdoor time (weather permitting)

Midday Quiet rest, snuggles, and developmental play

Afternoon Story time, exploration, and social interaction

All Day One-on-one attention, love, and responsive care

End of Day Calm play and pick-up transition
